BOSTON, MA.- On Friday, November 15, 2024, Jermaine Rodrigues, 34, of Taunton, Massachusetts, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley to 24 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to a federal firearms violation.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, following a Federal Grand Jury returning an indictment in July 2023, Rodrigues appeared in U.S. District Court in Boston, Massachusetts, in July 2024 and pleaded guilty to one count of Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
In June 2022, Rodrigues possessed two Anderson Manufacturing AM-15, .300 Blackout Long Guns, including one equipped with a laser sight affixed to the top rail of the rifle. In addition to the rifles, Rodrigues possessed around 100 rounds of .300 blackout ammunition.
When Rodrigues possessed the firearms and ammunition, he knew he was a prohibited person due to a prior felony conviction. Federal law prohibits a person previously convicted of a felony from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.
