ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Eric Williams, 56, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Pamela D’Arcy to first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault.
In return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Williams be sentenced to 12 years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires Williams to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. Williams will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
After entering his guilty plea during Wednesday’s hearing, Judge D’Arcy scheduled Williams’s sentencing for March 19, 2025, in Atlantic County Superior Court in Mays Landing, New Jersey.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, the guilty plea stems from an incident when, on May 19, 2022, Williams committed a sexual assault on a woman in the lobby of the bus terminal in Atlantic City, New Jersey. During the assault, Williams rectally penetrated the woman with both his fingers and his penis. The woman was asleep at the time of the assault. However, the assault was captured on the terminal’s video surveillance cameras, which led to Williams being taken into custody and formally charged.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Reynolds commended the investigative work of the New Jersey Transit Police and the Atlantic City Police Department, which led to the apprehension and Williams guilty plea on Wednesday.
