UNION CITY, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, a 76-year-old Union City, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with possessing hundreds of digital images depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Tuesday, Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force formally charged Carlos Manzini, 76, of Union City, with second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Manzini was taken into custody at his home located on 33rd Street in Union City, New Jersey.

Manzini was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Detectives Uncover Hundreds Of Digital Images

The charge stems from an investigation when, on March 20, 2024, Detectives of the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip that child sexual abuse material was being uploaded from an electronic device. During the investigation, Detectives were able to identify an IP address associated with Manzini to view, download, and possess digital images depicting nude and sexually explicit children.

A subsequent search by Detectives of Manzini’s computer uncovered hundreds of digital images of child sexual abuse material.
