Israeli air  strikes killed 33 Palestinians, including 13 children in Gaza early on Sunday, Gaza Health Officials said, and militants continue rocket assaults into Israel as hostilities continue into a seventh day.

The pre-dawn attacks struck houses in the center of Gaza City, Health Officials said. An Israeli Military spokesman said he would look into these reports.

The death toll in Gaza climbed to 181, including 52 children, since the fighting broke out a week ago. In Israel, 10 people including two children were killed in rocket attacks by Hamas and other militant groups.

The United Nations Security Council met late Sunday afternoon, to discuss the worst outbreak of  violence in Israeli – Palestinian relations which they have not seen in years.

Gaza’s Mayor Yahya Sarraj, told Al-Jazeera television that the air strikes had caused extensive damage to roads and other infrastructure  ” if the aggression continues we expect conditions to become worse,” he stated.

The United Nations furthered warned, the territory’s sole power station is at risk of running out of fuel, and Sarraj said Gaza was also low on spare parts. Gaza has already experienced daily power outages for between eight and twelve hours, and the water is undrinkable.

The war broke out last Monday, when the Hamas militant fired long-range rockets at Jerusalem, after weeks of clashes in the Holy City between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police. The protests were focused on the heavy handed policing of a flashpoint site during the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan, and the threatened eviction of dozens of Palestinian families by Jewish settlers.

Since then, the Israeli military has launched hundreds of air strikes targeting Hamas’ militant infrastructure. Palestinian militants in Gaza have fired more than 3100 rockets into Israel.

Some have questioned the recent funding of Iran by President Biden, giving way to Iran’s supplying of weapons to the Hamas militant groups. No matter the cause, President Biden needs to intervene, for a call of  peace in a volatile region, and needs to reevaluate his position of money given to Iran, a nation that supports terrorist groups.
