SCRANTON, PA.- On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Shaquill Morris, 34, a federal inmate housed at Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph F. Saporito to 24 months in federal prison for his previously entered guilty plea to being an Inmate in Possession of a Weapon.
In handing down the sentence on Tuesday, Judge Saportio ordered that the 24-month sentence be served consecutive to Morris’ 216-month sentence he previously received out of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam and charging documents filed with the district court, Morris, an inmate serving a federal prison term at the Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill, was observed by a corrections officer using a cell phone on July 26, 2024. A subsequent search of Morris by correctional officers uncovered that he was in possession of two homemade weapons commonly known as “shanks.”
U.S. Attorney Karam commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Special Investigative Services of the Bureau of Prisons for the successful prosecution of Morris.
