Oakland Woman Charged With Physically Assaulting Teen

OAKLAND, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, a 36-year-old Oakland, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and jailed following being charged with allegedly assaulting a child under the age of sixteen.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, members of the Oakland Police Department contacted Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after they received a report concerning an allegation of the physical assault of a child.
A joint investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Oakland Police Department quickly determined that Cecilia Murillo Viera, 36, of Oakland, physically abused a child under the age of sixteen in Oakland, New Jersey.
Accordingly, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Viera was taken into custody in Oakland and formally charged with one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Simple Assault. Viera was processed on the charges and was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
