Two West Virginia Men & New Jersey Man Plead Guilty To Drug Distribution

CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- On Friday, December 6, 2024, two West Virginia men and a New Jersey man appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi for their roles in a large-scale drug trafficking organization that operated throughout the Monongalia County, West Virginia area.

     James People, II, 28, of Pennsauken, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. Jeffrey Marsh, 45, of Morgantown, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, and William Durnall, 60, of Elkins, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to the Distribution of Methamphetamine.

     On Friday, Durnall additionally pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine after being charged in a separate investigation.

     According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and charging information filed with the District Court, all three men were part of a drug trafficking organization that distributed large quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine throughout Monogalia County in the Northern District of West Virginia.

     The case was investigated by the Monogalia Metro Drug Task Force, consisting of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, to combat the growing epidemic of drug distribution and abuse.
