CAMDEN, NJ.- Today, a 31-year-old Atco, New Jersey, man learned he would die in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced to 80 years for sexually assaulting his then girlfriend’s six and seven-year-old daughters over five months in 2015.

According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on July 27, 2023, Kevin Mottas, 31, of Atco, New Jersey, was found guilty by a Camden County jury of two counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; five counts of second-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; two counts of second-degree Hindering Apprehension; and two counts of third-degree Terroristic Threats.

Mottas Sentenced To 80 Years

Today, December 13, 2024, Mottas appeared in Camden County Superior Court and was sentenced by a Superior Court Judge to 80 years in New Jersey State Prison. The Judge ordered that Mottas serve 50 years of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

Upon release from prison, Mottas will be subject to parole supervision for life and will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements.

According To The Prosecutor’s Office

According to charging documents filed with the Superior Court, beginning in July 2015 and lasting for five months in Camden, New Jersey, Mottas repeatedly sexually assaulted his live-in girlfriend’s two young daughters, who at the time of the assaults were six and seven years old.

Further, during the time of the assaults, Mottas threatened to hurt the sisters as well as their mother if they ever told anyone about the sexual abuse. During the time of the sexual assaults, neither sister knew what was happening to the other. The sexual abuse only stopped when the children’s mother ended her relationship with Mottas in November 2015. In March 2019, the sisters told their mother about the abuse, who then promptly called law enforcement.
