Southgate Man Sentenced For West Virginia Drug Trafficking Operation

CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- A 33-year-old Southgate, Michigan man will be spending nearly the next six years in federal prison for being the head of a drug trafficking organization that transported large quantities of illicit narcotics from Michigan into West Virginia for distribution.

     On Friday, December 13, 2024, Drake D. Dodson-Williams appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 70 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his guilty plea of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II and charging information filed with the court, during an investigation into narcotics distribution in the Northern District of West Virginia, investigators identified Dodson-Williams as the leader of a drug trafficking organization that was responsible for transporting drugs from Michigan into the Harrison County, West Virginia area.

     During an investigative motor vehicle traffic stop on Dodson-Williams’s vehicle, investigators found and seized quantities of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and cash. Following the discovery of the narcotics, Dodson-Williams was taken into custody and charged. During the arrest procedure, investigators learned that Dodson-Williams has an extensive criminal history, including multiple narcotics convictions.

     U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, leading to the successful prosecution of Dodson-Williams.
