Centre County Man Sentenced For Conspiring To Distribute Meth

JOHNSTOWN, PA.- On Thursday, December 12, 2024, John Cyphert, 64, of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn J. Horan to 24 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, on his conviction of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.
According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan and charging documents filed with the District Court, beginning in November 2019 and lasting through March 2020, Cyphert, within the Western District of Pennsylvania, conspired with others to distribute and possessed with the intent to distribute methamphetamine throughout the Centre County, Pennsylvania area.
Cyphert Intercepted On Federal Wiretap
During an ongoing investigation into Cyphert’s narcotics distribution activities, federal agents intercepted him on a federal wiretap, obtaining quantities of methamphetamine that he was distributing to others.
U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Cyphert.
