CHICAGO, IL.- A 48-year-old convicted Chicago child predator will be spending the next two decades in federal prison after he was sentenced on Tuesday for enticing and coercing numerous children to perform and record sexually explicit acts and possessing hundreds of thousands of digital images depicting child pornography.
On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Glenn Clifford Messmer, 48, of Darien, Illinois, and former assistant girls track coach at Downers Grove High School, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and was sentenced by U.S. District Franklin U. Valderrama to 235 months in federal prison for his previously entered guilty plea to Production of Child Pornography.
Messmer Enticed On Social Media
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and charging documents filed with the court, Messmer, using the screennames “coreyjohnsonnn” and jayyyjansen,” communicated with children on the social media platforms Telegram and Snapchat and paid the children to produce sexually explicit material per his detailed instructions. Messmer maintained detailed notes about his victims, with their names, ages, friends, school grades, physical features, and willingness to engage with him.
Investigators Find Hundreds Of Thousand Of Images
After coming into the sights of federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, federal agents obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Messmer’s Darien residence. During the search, agents seized multiple electronic devices, and Messmer was taken into custody and charged. A subsequent forensic examination of Messmer’s devices uncovered over 350,000 digital images and around 18,000 video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. Many of the images and videos depicted sexual abuse of prepubescent children, some as young as four years old.
Acting U.S. Attorney Morris Pasqual commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigation and the Darien Police Department.
