Police Charge Teen With Robbing Victims Aboard D.C. Trolley Streetcar

WASHINGTON, DC.- D.C. Metropolitan Police quickly apprehended a 16-year-old boy shortly after he robbed a group of people with a handgun aboard a streetcar Sunday afternoon in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A Smith, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, shortly after 12:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a robbery on the Unit Block of H Street in Northeast, D.C.
Police Learned That Teen Robbed Victims When The Boarded Trolley
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the victims had just boarded a D.C. Streetcar at the location when a teen boy approached them, pulled out a handgun, and demanded money and their property. After getting the victim’s property, the boy fled the scene on foot.
A short time later, the suspect, a 16-year-old boy from Southeast, D.C., was located and taken into custody and formally charged as a juvenile with Armed Robbery.
“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and as in adult charges, a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
