South Plainfield Woman Charged For Performing Unlicensed Surgery

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Tuesday, following an investigation into the unlicensed cosmetic surgical procedures, a 61-year-old South Plainfield, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and charged with unlicensed practice of medicine and multiple related offenses.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, members of the South Plainfield Police Department, in conjunction with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, launched an investigation into Yamile Mattos, 61, of South Plainfield, who offered cosmetic medical procedures, including gluteoplasty and facial wrinkle removal to the public.
Charges Filed Against Mattos
During the investigation, Mattos was taken into custody and formally charged with Unlicensed Practice of Medicine; Possession with the Intent to Distribute Prescription Legend Drugs; and Possession of Counterfeit or Misbranded Prescription Legend Drugs.
On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Detectives arrested Mattos after undercover investigators met Mattos at a residence at 2500 Park Avenue in South Plainfield for consultations on available medical and cosmetic procedures. During the consultation with undercover officers, Mattos told officers her name was Adrianna. She offered the undercover officers a variety of services and showed them before and after pictures of other clients on her cell phone. While inside the home, officers noticed boxes of labeled lidocaine and dermal fillers.
Police Find Surgical Instruments And Perscription Drugs
During Mattos’ arrest, Police Officers uncovered and seized syringes, dermal fillers, lidocaine, and other substances, as well as various surgical instruments and devices for performing cosmetic procedures from the home. Police determined that Mattos possessed none of the required licenses to perform the cosmetic surgical procedures.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
