BOSTON, MA.- On Wednesday, following an investigation of online child pornography activities, a 31-year-old Attleboro, Massachusetts, man, who is a level 1 registered sex offender, previously convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of fourteen, was taken into custody and federally charged with a child sexual abuse material offense.
On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Eric Brault, 31, of Attleboro, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and made his initial appearance after being arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and charging information filed in the complaint, an investigation into an internet-based communications application utilized for the trafficking of child pornography allegedly identified Brault as a likely user of the application who participated in groups where child pornography was traded and distributed.
During a court-authorized search of Brault’s residence on Wednesday, uncovered that his cellular phone was allegedly being utilized to join several groups on the platform that traded child pornography. Additionally, a further examination of his cellular phone uncovered over 200 digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children, located within a photo storage file on Brault’s phone.
Brault was previously convicted in Attleboro District Court of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 years old and was subsequently sentenced to 18 months of probation.
