Louisville Gang Member Sentenced For Drug Trafficking & Firearms

LOUISVILLE, KY.- On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Chicoby Summers, 29, of Louisville, Kentucky, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and was sentenced to 324 months in federal prison, to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release for his conviction on drug trafficking and firearms offenses.

     Following a seven-day trial in federal district court in July 2024, a jury found Summers and his co-defendant Jerlen Horton guilty of multiple charges.

     Summers was convicted on the charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Over One Kilogram of Fentanyl, Over 250 Grams of Heroine, and a Quantity of Crack Cocaine; Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin; and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine; Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime; and Escape.

     In November 2024, Summers’ co-defendant Horton was sentenced to 354 months in federal prison, to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release. Horton was convicted on the charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Over One Kilogram of Fentanyl, Over 250 Grams of Heroin, and a Quantity of Crack Cocaine; Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin; Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine; and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.

      U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Louisville Metro Police Department for the successful prosecution of Summers.
