Woman Killed In Brick Drunk Driving Motor Vehicle Crash

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A woman was tragically killed Friday morning in a motor vehicle crash after her car was struck by a vehicle driving the wrong way on Route 70 in Brick Township, New Jersey.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Friday, December 27, 2024, at around 5:00 a.m., members of the Brick Township Police Department responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 70 near Lowe’s home improvement center.
Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders discovered that a Toyota Rav 4 had collided head-on with a Volkswagen Beetle. The man who was driving the Toyota Rav 4 was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Woman Tragically Dies From Injuries
The driver of the Volkswagen Beetle, an unidentified woman, was partially ejected from the vehicle and, had succumbed to her injuries, and was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the initial investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit’s Vehicular Homicide Squad and the Brick Township Police Department, investigators quickly determined that the driver of the Toyota Rav 4 was traveling Eastbound in the Westbound lane of Route 70 on the wrong side of the concrete barrier that divides the roadway when he collided head-on with the Volkswagen Beetle.
The driver of the Toyota Rav 4 was issued motor vehicle summonses by the Brick Township Police Department for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. More charges may be pending.
“This is an active investigation, more information will be released when it becomes available,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.
