Alexandria Man Sentenced For Possessing Machine Gun

ALEXANDRIA, LA. On Friday, December 20, 2024, Kaelin Williams, 27, of Alexandria, Louisiana, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Dee D. Drell to 30 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for his previously entered guilty plea to a federal firearms violation.

According to U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown and documents filed with the District Court, Williams was charged with one count of illegal possession of a machine gun in a federal indictment. He pleaded guilty to the charge on August 21, 2024, in U.S. Federal Court.

The indictment stemmed from an investigation when, on March 1, 2024, federal and local law enforcement agencies obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Williams’ and his brother’s Alexandria residence during the course of an ongoing illegal firearms investigation.

During The Search Investigators Find Machine Guns

During the search, investigators found Williams alone in the residence and was found to be in possession of two fully automatic machine guns. Both guns were determined to be Anderson AM-15s, AR-Type multi-caliber handguns, each containing a machine gun conversion device. In addition to locating the firearms, investigators also uncovered several additional machine gun firearms conversion devices, commonly referred to as “Glock Switches.” During questioning, Williams admitted to investigators that he knew the “Glock Switches” were illegal and were used to turn semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic machine guns.

U.S. Attorney Brown commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the Alexandria Police Department, which led to Williams’s successful prosecution.
