Middletown Township Man Pleads Guilty In 2023 Domestic Stabbing

MIDDLETOWN, NJ.- Last Friday, a 38-year-old Middletown Township, New Jersey, man who has a criminal history of violence pleaded guilty in connection with a July 2023 domestic violence stabbing of a relative inside the Middletown Township, New Jersey, home.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Friday, January 3, 2025, Timothy J. Sauers, 38, of Middletown, appeared in Monmouth County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon to one count of first-degree Attempted Murder.

     In return for the guilty plea, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Sauers be sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Sauers to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. After entering his guilty plea on Friday, Judge Escandon accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for February 20, 2025.

According To The Prosecutor’s Office

     According to charging documents filed with the Superior Court, on July 5, 2023, members of the Middletown Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a domestic dispute at a residence located on Hillside Street in the Township.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, along with another resident, who stepped in to stop the violent attack. During the attack, an infant was present inside the home.

     At that time, an investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Middletown Township Police Department determined that Sauers was responsible for the stabbings.
