Phoenix Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Vermont Federal Drug Case

BURLINGTON, VT.- On Monday, January 6, 2025, Luis Angle Gerardo Urias, 27, of Phoenix, Arizona, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss to 70 months in federal prison for his previously entered guilty plea to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

     According to U.S. Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest and charging information filed in the District Court, Gerardo Urias, and his co-conspirators participated in a methamphetamine distribution network that extended from Arizona to Vermont and involved the distribution of more than 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Investigation Conducted By Department Of Homeland Security

     The investigation was conducted by agents of the Department of Homeland Security Investigations. During the investigation, agents determined that Gerardo Urias and his co-conspirators shipped methamphetamine to Vermont, distributed methamphetamine to an undercover operative in Arizona, and received drug proceeds in cash as well as money transfers from Vermont.

     Following the investigation, on March 15, 2023, federal agents obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Gerardo Urias’s Phoenix, Arizona residence. During the search, agents and investigators found and seized two firearms that Gerardo Urias possessed, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and an assault rifle, as well as ammunition for both firearms.
