EDISON, NJ.- On Friday, January 10, 2025, a 31-year-old Edison, New Jersey man who was charged last August with sexually assaulting a woman who he met on the social media platform Facebook and released pending trial has been charged for a second time with allegedly sexually assaulting a second woman he met on the social media platform.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, Detective Clint Hetzell of the Edison Township Police Department launched an investigation into allegations after a woman came forward reporting that she had been sexually assaulted by Faton Boqolli, 31, who she had met on Facebook. Following a swift-moving investigation, on Friday, January 10, 2025, Boqolli was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with related sex crimes.

Boqolli was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Boqolli pending trial.

As previously reported, on August 5, 2024, Detective Daniela Castro of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Michael Geist of the Edison Township Police Department launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault after a woman came forward accusing Boqolli of sexually assaulting her.

Boqolli First Charged In August 2024

During the investigation, Detective Castro and Detective Geist determined that Boqolli had met the woman through Facebook, and during their initial meeting, Boqolli sexually assaulted her. Accordingly, on August 6, 2024, Boqolli was taken into custody and charged with Sexual Assault, Criminal Restraint, and Criminal Sexual Contact.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information or who may have had a similar encounter with Boqolli is urged to contact Detective Castro of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at (732) 745-3652 or Detective Hetzell of the Edison Township Police Department at (732) 248-7400.
