CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- A 34-year-old Marion County man is facing up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Monday to a federal drug offense.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt, on Monday, January 13, 2025, Emmanuel Gibson, 34, of Fairmont, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.
Gibson Faces Up To 20 Years In Prison
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Aloi accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for a time and date to be determined by the court. When sentenced, Gibson faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. At the time of sentence, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Gibson’s prior criminal history.
According to the charging information filed in the District Court, members of the Westover Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Gibson’s vehicle. Instead of yielding to the Police Officers, Gibson fled, leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended with Gibson’s arrest.
After taking Gibson into custody, Westover Police Officers searched his vehicle. During the search, Police Officers found and seized fentanyl-laced pills, other controlled substances, two firearms, and various drug paraphernalia items.
