Erie Man Sentenced For Federal Child Pornography Offenses

ERIE, PA.- On Friday, January 10, 2025, Michael Paul Ambrose, 44, of Erie, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Susan Paradise Baxter to 144 months in federal prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release on his conviction of Distributing and Attempting to Distribute Child Pornography.

     During Friday’s sentencing, in addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Baxter also ordered Ambrose to pay $48,000 in restitution to seven identified victims.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan and documents filed with the District Court, around November 2022, Ambrose distributed and attempted to distribute digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts.

     The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
