Johnstown Man Sentenced For Narcotics Trafficking

JOHNSTOWN, PA.- On Monday, a 53-year-old Johnstown, Pennsylvania, man learned he would be spending the next eight years in federal prison after he was sentenced for distributing illicit narcotics throughout the Western District of Pennsylvania, specifically the Johnstown area.

     On Monday, January 13, 2025, George Mazey, 53, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn J. Horan to 96 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release for his conviction on Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substances, Fentanyl, Heroin, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan and documents filed with the District Court, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Mazey in and around February 2021 to April 2021, conspired with others to distribute and possess 40 grams or more of a substance containing fentanyl, a substance containing heroin, and quantities of cocaine and crack cocaine in the Western District of Pennsylvania.

     The investigation further uncovered that in April 2021, Mazey possessed with the intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture that contained cocaine and fentanyl. During the course of the investigation, Mazey was intercepted on a federal wiretap, obtaining quantities of various illicit narcotics that he distributed to others in the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, area.

     U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation that led to Mazey’s arrest and successful prosecution.
