One Dead, One Injured In Early Thursday Morning Northwest Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding an early Thursday morning Northwest domestic dispute that tragically ended in a shooting, claiming the life of a Northeast, D.C. man and leaving a woman suffering from minor injuries.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at around 2:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District responded to reports of gunfire on the Unit Block of Ridge Square in Northwest, D.C.
Police Officers Find Man Shot In Apartment
Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers found a man, later identified as Terell Cortez West, 32, of Northeast, D.C., inside an apartment, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Mr. Cortez West succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult woman was also found inside the apartment, having sustained minor injuries from being assaulted with a weapon.
During the initial investigation, Detectives determined that the shooting occurred during a domestic domestic dispute inside the residence.
