Boston Man Heading To Federal Prison For Federal Ammunition Charge

Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 5:00 P.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BOSTON, MA.- Today, January 22, 2025, Nicholas Carle, 36, of Boston, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns to 42 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea for being a Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition.

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and charging documents filed with the District Court, on December 18, 2022, after being stopped for a traffic violation, Carle jumped out of the vehicle and ran from Police Officers, dropping his coat as he fled Police Officers. Police Officers picked up the jacket, and inside the coat, Police Officers found a Smith & Wesson .357-caliber revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

During a subsequent search of Carle’s vehicle, Officers found around 2.5 pounds of marijuana inside the trunk of the vehicle. Carle was initially charged by a federal criminal complaint in April 2023, and pleaded guilty to the charge of being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition in September 2024.

Federal prohibits a person with a prior felony conviction from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition. Carle knew he was prohibited from possessing ammunition due to prior felony convictions, including a conviction for possession of a firearm without a permit.

U.S. Attorney Foley commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Massachusetts State Police for the successful prosecution of Carle.
