NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation into internet child pornography investigation, a 22-year-old New Brunswick, New Jersey man was taken into custody and charged with allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, January 24, 2025, Detectives of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit formally charged Mark Newman, 22, of New Brunswick, with one count of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography. Newman was taken into custody without incident and processed on the charge.

The charge stems from an investigation that began when Detectives of the Crimes Against Children Unit received a CyberTip from the New Jersey State Police regarding an individual in the New Brunswick area who was allegedly utilizing the internet to view, download, and possess digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.

During the investigation, Detectives were able to trace an IP address to a residence associated with Newman and determined that he was utilizing the Internet to commit child pornography offenses.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding Newman’s alleged internet activities is asked to contact Detective Stenly Vertus of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-8391. All calls and information will be kept confidential.
