Police Charge Southeast Teen For Role In August Southeast Armed Carjacking

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, a 16-year-old Southeast, D.C. boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred back on August 13, 2024, in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, shortly before 9:15 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Southeast District responded to a report of a carjacking on the 2700 Block of 31st Street in Southeast, D.C.

The Victim Informed Police His Car Was Stolen At Gunpoint

     Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by the victim while seated in their vehicle, the victim was approached by three suspects who pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money and the vehicle. The victim complied with the suspects’ demands, and the suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

     During the ongoing investigation, on Wednesday, D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at a residence in Southeast, D.C. During the search, Detectives found a handgun and arrested a 16-year-old boy. The teen was charged pursuant to a District of Columbia Superior Court Custody order and was charged with Armed Carjacking. The teen was also charged with possessing an Unregistered Firearm; and Receiving Stolen Property.
