Teen Charged With Tuesday’s “Snatch & Grab” Cell Phone Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, Metropolitan Police Detectives charged a juvenile in connection with snatch and grab robbery in the Brookland neighborhood in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, shortly before 4:15 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District responded to a report of a robbery on the 600 Block of Michigan Avenue in Northeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the suspect approached the victim while walking along Michigan Avenue when the suspect all of a sudden snatched the victim’s cell phone out of their hand.
The suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by Catholic University Police Officers, who recovered the victim’s cell out of the hands of the suspect.
Based on the initial investigation, Detectives charged a 17-year-old Alexandria, Virginia, boy with Robbery. The teen was processed on the charge and released to his guardian.
