BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Kevin Wray Terrell, 39, of Beckley, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn to his role in a drug trafficking organization that distributed quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Beckley, West Virginia area.
Terrell entered guilty pleas to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine; and Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl. Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Aboulhosn accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for May 22, 2025, at which time Terrell faces on each count up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and statements made in court, Terrell admitted to working with a co-conspirator to obtain and distribute controlled substances in April and May 2024. On May 15, 2024, the co-conspirator told Terrell about a supplier prepared to sell them controlled substances, and Terrell and the co-conspirator discussed providing $6,000 to the supplier for the narcotics they planned to repackage and distribute in the Southern District of West Virginia.
On May 20, 2024, Terrell drove the co-conspirator to Baltimore, Maryland, where they met the supplier and purchased $6,000 worth of fentanyl.
Terrell and his co-conspirator then traveled back to West Virginia the next day. Upon their return, the two discussed increasing the volume of the purchased fentanyl by adding cutting agents such as sugar and brown sugar. On May 30, 2024, law enforcement investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at Terrell’s Beckley, West Virginia residence and, during the search, seized 136 grams of fentanyl.
Terrell is among 12 individuals charged in an indictment that alleged the defendants conspired to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine within the Southern District of West Virginia from around June 2023 to May 2024. Terrell is also among 11 defendants who have pleaded guilty, including two defendants who pleaded guilty to separate charges in lieu of the charges alleged in the indictment.
