Elkhart Man Sentenced To Nearly Two Decades For Drugs & Guns

SOUTH BEND, IN.- On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Adam Motheral, 50, of Elkhart, Indiana, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty to 228 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Distribution of Methamphetamine; and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney and charging documents filed with the District Court, During an investigation into narcotics distribution throughout the Elkhart, Indiana, area, law enforcement investigators identified Motheral as a distributor of narcotics and firearms.

     Between October 2023 and February 2024, investigators learned that Motheral sold four firearms and over 400 grams of high-purity methamphetamine to buyers in Elkhart. After learning of the sales, law enforcement investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Motheral’s Elkhart residence. During the search, investigators located and seized 150 grams of methamphetamine and nine additional firearms.

     In handing down the sentence, Judge Leichty noted Motheral’s extensive criminal history, including four prior felony convictions and twelve prior misdemeanor convictions.
