One Teen Dead, Another Hospitalized In Southeast D.C. Shooting Homicide

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding an early Tuesday evening Southeast, D.C. shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy and left another teen hospitalized from a gunshot wound. Bringing the death toll to four in less than 24 hours in the Nation’s Capital City.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to sounds of gunfire on the 3500 Block of 6th Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Officers Find One Teen Dead, One Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a teen, later identified as Izaiah Huggans, 17, of Southeast, D.C., unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services pronounced Huggans deceased at the scene. A second teen boy was discovered at the scene, suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The teen was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The case remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the suspect or suspects and a motive for the shooting.
