Mays Landing Man Sentenced For Assaulting Girlfriend

ABSECON, NJ.- A 33-year-old Mays Landing, New Jersey man, will be spending the next four years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with knocking his girlfriend’s teeth out during a March 2024 domestic violence incident at the Travelodge Hotel in Absecon, New Jersey.

     On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, LaQuay Taylor, 33, of Mays Landing, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced to four years in State Prison for his previously entered guilty plea to third-degree Aggravated Assault.

Police Officer Respond To A Domestic Violence Incident

     According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on March 23, 2024, members of the Absecon Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a domestic violence incident at the Travelodge Hotel on Absecon Boulevard in Absecon, New Jersey.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a woman in the lobby, bleeding from her mouth and missing several front teeth.

     During the initial investigation, responding Police Officers determined that the woman got into an argument with her boyfriend, LaQuay Taylor, in their hotel room. The argument quickly escalated and turned physical, with Taylor chasing his girlfriend down the hallway as she attempted to flee.

     Upon catching his girlfriend, Taylor struck his girlfriend several times with a closed fist, resulting in facial cuts and bruises. Taylor fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later by Police Officers.
