El Salvadorian Man Facing Deportation After Being Sentenced To Time Served

SCRANTON, PA.- On Friday, February 7, 2025, Jose Carlos Vides-Torres, 46, of El Salvador, residing illegally in the Bradford County, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pensylvania and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann to time-served after pleading guilty to one count Unlawful Reentry by a Previously Deported Alien.
Following being sentenced on Friday, Vides-Torres will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations to be removed to from the United States back to El Salvador.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and documents filed with the District Court, Vides-Torres was discovered on September 10, 2022, in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, after being arrested by members of the Pennsylvania State Police for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Vides-Torres had been previously removed from the United States in 2008, and twice in 2011, and had not sought to obtain permission or legal authorization to reenter the U.S. Vides-Torres has been in custody since his initial arrest on September 10, 2022.
