WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested a 32-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on December 17, 2024, in Southeast, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to reports of gunfire on the 2800 Block of Alabama Avenue in Southeast, D.C.

Shooting Victim Arrives At Hospital After Being Shot

Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a shooting crime scene but were unable to locate a victim. While canvassing the area, Police Officers were notified that a victim had arrived at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds

During the ensuing investigation, Police Officers and Detectives determined that the victim was shot at that location and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. Detectives were able to identify Brandon Ross, 32, as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, pursuant to the D.C. Superior Court warrant, Ross was located and taken into custody and formally charged with Assault with Intent to Kill. Ross was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
