Wethersfield Man Sentenced For Supplying Drugs Causing Fatal Overdose

BRIDGEPORT, CT.- On Monday, February 10, 2025, Jimmy Lassus, 40, of Wethersfield, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Kari A. Dooley to 100 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea for Distributing Fentanyl and Oxycodone resulting in a fatal overdose.

     On September 30, 2024, Lassus appeared in Federal Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and pleaded guilty to the Distribution of Fentanyl and Oxycodone. Lassus has remained in custody since his initial April 11, 2024 arrest.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Marc H. Silverman and charging documents filed with the District Court, during the morning hours of October 6, 2023, members of the Meriden Police Department responded to a residence after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting a suspected drug overdose.

Responding Police Officer Find Woman Unresponsive

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 27-year-old woman unresponsive in a bedroom. The woman was immediately transported to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, the woman was pronounced deceased. 

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives determined that for several months before the woman’s death, she engaged in numerous drug-related text message conversations with Lassus. The text messages revealed that Lassus supplied the woman with oxycodone and supplied her with the fentanyl that she had ingested just hours before she succumbed to the fatal overdose.

     The woman stated in a text message and an entry in her journal that it was her first time using fentanyl.
