Man Shot Dead Early Monday Morning On Northeast D.C. Street

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is actively searching for the gunman who opened fire, killing a man, early Monday morning on Benning Road in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, February 24, 2025, just minutes after 12:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to the 1600 Block of Benning Road in Northeast, D.C., after hearing gunfire.
Police Officers Find Man Fatally Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, identified as Larry Evans, 48, of Northwest, D.C., having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound. Mr. Evans was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Police continue the search for the suspect and a motive for the shooting.
