Lackawanna County Man Indicted On Multiple Child Pornography Offenses

SCRANTON, PA.- On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Reinaldo Gonzalez, Jr., 31, of Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania, on multiple counts of Child Pornography Offenses.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment. It has been alleged that between 2022 and 2023, Gonzalez utilized the internet to view, download, and possess digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children while in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.

Gonzalez Is Facing Up To 120 Years In Federal Prison

     If convicted on the charges unsealed in the indictment, Gonzalez faces up to 120 years in federal prison, at least five years, and up to a lifetime of supervised release. Following a conviction, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Gonzalez’s prior criminal history. 

     Gonzalez will also be required to register as a sex offender in the national database and will be ordered to pay restitution to any of his identified victims.

     The case and indictment were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
