Police Charge Ocean Township Man With Neptune City Fatal Stabbing

NEPTUNE CITY, NJ.- According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Monday, March 10, 2025, a 28-year-old local Monmouth County, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with last Tuesday’s stabbing death of a 24-year-old Neptune Township, New Jersey man.
Zhahiem Spann, 28, of Ocen Township, New Jersey has been formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Spann was processed on the charges at the Neptune City Police Department and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
Detectives Identify Spann As Suspect
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, when, around 11:30 p.m., members of the Neptune City Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing outside a residence located on the 200 Block of Sylvania Avenue in Neptune City.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Kaylib Paul, 24, of Neptune Township, suffering from multiple life-threatening stab wounds. Mr. Paul was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where, despite life-saving measures by doctors, Mr. Paul tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
During an ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Neptune City Police Department were able to identify Spann as the assailant and the individual responsible for the stabbing death of Mr. Paul.
