ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Friday, February 9, 2024, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that a Jury sitting in Union County, New Jersey has Returned Guilty Verdicts against a 57-Year-Old Elizabeth, New Jersey man, in connection with an April 2022, Road Rage Incident that Critically Injured a Woman.

Following a Two-Week Trial before The Honorable Thomas Isenhour, the Jury Returned Guilty Verdicts against Vincent Jean, 57, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, on The Charges of First Degree Attempted Murder; Second Degree Aggravated Assault; Third Degree Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; Third Degree Assault by Auto; Third Degree Endangering an Injured Victim; and Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
The Conviction stems from an incident when on April 12, 2022, during the morning hours, Members of The Elizabeth Police Department responded to the area of Salem Avenue and Aberdeen Road in Elizabeth, following a 911 Emergency Call reporting a Pedestrian being Struck by a Motor Vehicle.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a 23-Year-Old woman on the Front Lawn of a Residence, suffering from Multiple Serious Injuries. The woman was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey in Critical Condition.
According to The Prosecutor’s Office, Witnesses at the scene reported to Officers that Mr. Jean and the Woman were initially involved in a Minor Motor Vehicle Accident in the area. Following the Accident Mr. Jean attempted to Flee From the Scene, While the Woman began taking pictures of Jean’s Car. At that point, Mr. Jean Drove his Car toward the Woman, who eventually ran across the Lawn to avoid being Struck. Jean then Drove onto the lawn and deliberately ran over the Woman Three Times before Fleeing the Scene. Mr. Jean was later located by Elizabeth Police Officers sitting in his Damaged Vehicle. He was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged.
