Metropolitan Police Charge Teen Boy In Monday’s Northwest Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, March 10, 2025, a 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with a snatch-and-grab robbery that occurred Monday evening in Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at around 6:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District responded to a report of a robbery on the 1800 Block of 20th Street in Northwest, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by the victim while they were walking on 20th Street, a young male suspect approached them, snatched their property, and attempted to flee, but the victim was able to wrestle their property back from the suspect, who then fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

Police Apprehend Teen In Robbery

     A short time later, while patrolling in the area, Second District Police Officers spotted a teen matching the description provided by the victim. Following the victim making a positive identification, Police Officers arrested the 13-year-old boy and formally charged him with a juvenile charge of Robbery.

     The teen was processed on the charge and released to his parents, pending future family court proceedings.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and as in adult criminal cases, a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
