27-YEAR-OLD EVESHAM MAN SENTENCED TO 34 YEARS IN PRISON FOR 2022 STABBING DEATH OF FRIEND

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Friday, February 9, 2024, a 27-Year-Old Evesham, New Jersey man was Sentenced to a Term of 34 Years in New Jersey State Prison, for The February 2022 Stabbing Death of his Friend, as well as his Friend’s Dog, while Robbing his Friend.

According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, during a Sentencing Hearing on Friday, February 9, 2024, in Burlington County Superior Court, The Honorable Terrence R. Cook, J.S.C., Sentenced Donovan G. Hollingsworth, 27, of Evesham, New Jersey, to a Term of 34 Years in State Prison. In August 2023, after Deliberating for just over an hour a Burlington County Jury Returned Gulity Verticts against Hollingsworth on The Charges of First Degree Murder; First Degree Robbery; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Third Degree Animal Cruelty; and Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
On Friday, Judged Cooked Ordered Hollingsworth to Serve Thirty Years in Prison with no Parole for The Murder Charge, and an Additional Four Years Consecutively for Killing the Dog.
The Conviction and Sentence are the result of an investigation that began in the Morning Hours of February 5, 2022, when Members of The Evesham Township Police Department responded to The Olympus Apartments located on Baker Boulevard in The Township for a Report of a Possible Dog Attack on a Resident. Upon arrival, Police Officers found Thomas Pierson, III, deceased inside his Apartment from Multiple Stab Wounds.
Mr. Pierson’s Dog, a Cane Corso, was also Found Dead from Multiple Stab Wounds on a Stairway Landing. During the Investigation, Detectives determined that Hollingsworth traveled to Pierson’s Apartment with the purpose of Robbing him. During the Robbery, an altercation ensued, at which time Hollingsworth Stabbed Mr. Pierson Multiple Times as well as his Dog.
Hollingsworth then Fled and was later located at The Emergency Room of Virtua Voorhees Hospital, where he had gone for treatment for minor injuries.
