Trenton Woman Charged With Fatally Running Down A Woman Tuesday With Her Car

TRENTON, NJ.- On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, a 47-year-old Trenton, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and lodged in the county jail after being charged in connection with fatally running down a 67-year-old woman with her Sport Utility Vehicle following an altercation and fleeing the scene on Tuesday afternoon in the City of Trenton, and fleeing the scene.
According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, Asia Brown, 47, of Trenton, has been formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; and one count of second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death.

Brown was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Mercer County Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court in Trenton, New Jersey. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion with the court to detain Brown pending trial.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, when shortly after 4:00 p.m., members of the Trenton Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on the 1400 Block of West State Street in the City of Trenton.
Police Officers Find Woman Seriously Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a woman, later identified as Caldner Bell, 67, of Trenton, having sustained life-threatening injuries by being struck by a motor vehicle. Ms. Bell was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, Ms. Bell tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that following an apparent altercation between Ms. Bell and Brown in front of Ms. Bell’s West State Street home. Brown drove her Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle over the curb onto the grass between the roadway and sidewalk and ran down Ms. Bell. After striking Ms. Bell, the Lexus continued to drive onto the front lawn of a residence and hit a house.
Following hitting the house, Brown fled the scene in her vehicle down West State Street toward Newell Avenue.
Police Officers Arrest Brown After Driving Down Closed Raod
Within several minutes, the Lexus drove through a closed construction zone where two Trenton Police Officers were working traffic duty. The Police Officers noticed the Lexus was missing the front bumper and had a blown-out front driver’s side tire. While the Lexus was stopped near the intersection of Montgomery and East State Streets, the Police Officers approached the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
During the stop and following, calling in the license plate, Police Officers learned that the Lexus was linked to running down Ms. Bell. Accordingly, Brown was taken into custody without incident.
