Guatemalan Illegal Immigrant Sentenced For Illegal Reentry Into U.S.

HARRISBURG, PA.- The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that a 30-year-old Guatemalan national illegally residing in the Middle District of Pennsylvania will be spending nearly two years in federal prison after being sentenced on Friday for illegally being in the United States after previously being removed.
On Friday, April 7, 2025, Oseas Froilan Gomez-Tebalan, 30, of Guatemala, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson to 21 months in federal prison for Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, Gomez-Tebalan had been previously removed from the United States on March 18, 2017, through Phoenix, Arizona, after being convicted in California of assault with a deadly weapon. Gomez-Telalan was subsequently found and removed and again found for a third time without first obtaining permission or legal authorization to reenter the country.
Upon completion of his federal term of imprisonment, Gomez-Telalan will face immediate deportation proceedings and will be removed from the United States.
U.S. Attorney Gurganus commended the investigative work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement Removal Operation for the successful prosecution of Gomez-Telalan.
