D.C. Man Dies From Injuries After Being Shot Friday Night In Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred late Friday evening that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Northwest, D.C., man.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, April 4, 2025, shortly after 10:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 700 Block of Otis Place in Northwest, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders located a man, later identified as Kalyl Young, 22, of Northwest, D.C., on the ground suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Mr. Young was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Mr. Young Dies From Injuries

     Sadly, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, Mr. Young succumbed to his injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
