Mexican Convicted Child Predator Sentenced For Illegal Reentry

Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 12:00 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

HARRISBURG, PA.- On Monday, a 41-year-old Mexican national and previously convicted sex offender, illegally residing in the Middle District of Pennsylvania, found out he will be spending over a year in federal prison and, upon release, will be immediately removed from the United States after pleading guilty to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

On Monday, April 7, 2025, Cosme Marin-Ponce, 41, of Mexico, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson to 18 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. Following the completion of his term of imprisonment, Marin-Ponce will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the country.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging documents filed with the District Court, Marin-Ponce had previously been removed from the United States in 2019 after pleading guilty to indecent assault on a child less than the age of 13. Marin-Ponce was subsequently found in the Middle District of Pennsylvania without obtaining permission or legal authorization to reenter the United States.

Marin-Ponce also failed to register as a sex offender in the national database for his previous conviction as required by law.

The case was brought as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations in order to protect the nation’s communities.
