ONE DEAD AND ONE REMAINS HOSPITALIZED AFTER BEING RUN DOWN BY A VEHICLE THAT FLED THE SCENE IN NUTLEY

NUTLEY, NJ.- Detectives of The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Bureau and The Nutley Police Department are Searching for The Vehicle and Driver who Struck Two Pedestrians and Fled the Scene Wednesday Night as they Walked along Milton Avenue in Nutley, New Jersey, Killing One and Leaving another on The Road Seriously Injured.
According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, within minutes of 7:00 p.m., Members of The Nutley Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call Reporting that Two Pedestrians had been Struck by a Motor Vehicle, that Fled the Scene, on The 100 Block of Milton Avenue in Nutley.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located Two Individuals. Both Individuals were immediately transported to The Hospital, where Wiston Perlaza, 22, of Paterson, New Jersey was Pronounced Dead at 7:12 p.m. The Second Individual Remains Hospitalized, in Serious but Stable Condition.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Authorities continue their search for The Vehicle and Driver.
