Police Charge Man For Early February 2025 Northwest Carjacking

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, April 10, 2025, a 58-year-old Northwest, D.C., man was taken into custody and charged in connection with an unarmed carjacking that occurred during the morning hours of February 3, 2025, in the Glover Park section of Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, February 3, 2025, shortly around 8:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a carjacking on the 3800 Block of Davis Place in Northwest, D.C.

Female Victim Tells Police She Was Assaulted And Carjacked

     Upon arrival, Police Officers were met by a woman who reported that while she was attempting to enter her vehicle, an unidentified man approached and assaulted her, successfully grabbing her keys and fleeing in her car. The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. During the initial investigation, the woman’s vehicle was recovered the following day.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force were able to recover area video surveillance images of the suspect that were distributed to the public, which led to the identification of the suspect. On Thursday, April 10, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Unit located and arrested Vincent Atchison, 58, of Northwest, D.C., pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant.

     Following being taken into custody, Atchison was formally charged with one count of Carjacking. Atchison was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
