Man Charged For The Early Easter Morning Stabbing In Northwest, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday, April 20, 2025, a 21-year-old Southeast, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the stabbing of two individuals that occurred early Easter Sunday morning in Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, shortly after 12:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing on the 1200 Block of U Street in Northwest, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man and a juvenile boy both having sustained non-life-threatening stab wounds. Both victims were transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services for treatment for their injuries.

Police Charged Tate In Stabbing

     During the initial investigation, and based on accounts provided by witnesses, Terrell Tate, 21, of Southeast, D.C., was taken into custody at the scene and was formally charged with Assault With a Dangerous Weapon. Tate was processed on the charge and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
