MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Lewis Johnston, 35, of Pleasantville, New Jersey, learned the consequences of his actions that he would most likely die in New Jersey State Prison, when on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, an Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Sentenced him to a Term of 75 Years in Prison for Fatally Gunning Down a 17-Year-Old Atlantic City Teen. The Sentence will be Subject to The No Early Release Act which will require Mr. Johnston to Serve 63 Years in Prison before becoming eligible for Parole.

During the Sentencing, The Court noted Johnston’s Prior Lengthy Criminal History, particularly his prior Hangun-Related Offenses. The Judge Granted The State’s motion for an Extended Term of Incarceration based on that history.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on December 11, 2023, following a Weeklong Trial, a Jury Returned Guilty Verdicts against Johnston on The Charges of First Degree Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Second Degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.

The Sentence and Conviction stem from an incident when on June 8, 2020, Johnston drove down to Atlantic City from Easton, Pennsylvania to help his Then-Girlfriend Shaquana Lewis confront the parents of her daughter’s boyfriend after a Physical Altercation between the kids the night before. But when they arrived at the boy’s house in the early afternoon on June 8, 2020, Johnston, Armed with a Handgun, ran up the steps at 2009 Blaine Avenue to the second-floor apartment’s porch, where the teen and his foster brother were hanging out. Johnston then Pistol-Whipped the Teen and Shot him in The Back and Foot. Johnston then fled back down the stairs, Firing Back Up at the Boys from the Ground Level. Johnston then Fled Atlantic City by Car, Stopping at a Liquor Store in Pleasantville, before driving back to Easton, Pennsylvania.

The Teen succumbed to the injuries he sustained and was pronounced Dead later that day. Johnston was Apprehended the next morning in an Apartment in Easton where he was staying. The Handgun used in the Shooting Death of Teen was recovered inside the Apartment.
