19-YEAR-OLD MILLSTONE MAN CHARGED WITH GUNPOINT ROBBERY OF HIGH-END SNEAKERS

HOWELL, NJ.- A 19-Year-Old Millstone, New Jersey man has been Charged for Tueday’s Mid-Afternoon Gunpoint Robbery of a Couple of High-End Sneakers from a Howell, New Jersey Man, whom he met on a Social Media Marketplace Platform.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, following an Investigation, Giancarlo Nevarez, 19, of The Clarksburg Section of Millstone, New Jersey was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged with First Degree Armed Robbery; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Nevarez was Processed on The Charges and was Remanded to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending Future Court Proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.

     The Charges stem from an incident, when on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, just shortly after 3:00 p.m., Members of The Howell Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call Reporting a Gunfire Incident in the area of The 4200 Block of Route 9 South in Howell.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers launched an investigation with the assistance of The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau. Detectives disclosed that the Male Victim had contacted Mr. Nevarez through a Social Media Platform to Sell him a Couple of Pairs of High-End Sneakers. Upon their meeting, Mr. Nevarez was shown the Sneakers, he then Pulled Out a Firearm, Firing One Shot, and then Fled with The Sneakers. Authorities reported that no one was injured from the Gunshot.

     Monmouth County Authorities were Quickly able to locate Mr. Nevarez and Take him into Custody without incident.

     Monmouth County Prosecutor Santiago would like to remind the Public that The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and other Law Enforcement Agencies have set up safe exchange zones to protect the safety of our residents and minimize the risk of someone becoming a Robbery through In-Person Transactions.
